WHAT HAPPENED TO DARCY? FIND OUT SEPTEMBER 17.
A NOVEL BY ALI KRIEGSMAN
Catty coworkers. Head-to-toe Zara. Iced matcha lattes. Venture-backed fun. Welcome to Savvy, where the goals are high and the tension is higher. It’s 2019. Your CEO just fell 25 feet to her death in the desert. But just keep your head down and keep working, okay? Because you live or die by your numbers. And you never know… you might be next.
NOTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS.
Alexis Ecker is running out of time. She has two months to raise $75 million and keep her company from imploding. At just 29 years old, Alexis is the co-founder and newly-named CEO of a massive e-commerce business on the brink of bankruptcy—a business she started nearly a decade ago alongside her best friend and mentor, Darcy Lyons.
But Darcy’s dead now.
She just died in a freak accident at Burning Man, which means Alexis is alone at the helm. As the brains behind Savvy—but never the face—Alexis struggles to step into her new role, and begins to second-guess what’s real and what’s fake, what’s forgivable—and what’s fraud.
There are secrets buried in Savvy’s closet, and with each passing day, Alexis learns more about the “brilliant” and “untouchable” Darcy, their company ‘s foundation, and the lies she once chose to protect. The clock is ticking, and as Alexis works furiously to put band-aids over bullet holes and manage her fraying personal relationships, she starts to wonder: did Darcy really deserve the pedestal Alexis placed her on? And did she really fall from that bus at Burning Man—or was she pushed?
This propulsive psychological thriller compels readers to question the purity of their own ambition, the health of their most intimate relationships, and whether we really know each other—or ourselves.
